■ 23/06/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard SEGA’s new action game Viking Battle for Asgard didn’t get a whole lot of media coverage prior to release, it had an interesting concept and from the screenshots provided we thought above average graphics but people just didn’t care. It’s from the same developers as Total War. No strategy this time but harsh, bloody action instead. If it should have gotten more attention from gamers out there you’ll find out in this review.

■ 19/05/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard Timed button-mashing wasn’t a novel mechanic when God of War was released on the Playstation 2, but the team at SCE’s Santa Monica studio hit the mark in terms of visceral, combo-laden combat that couldn’t get stale. Set in Greek lore, we were introduced to a mortal-turned-demi-god, and an enticing story portrayed through superb narration.

Yet the word fantasy consists of more than just these things and Creative Assembly had the same thought about it. Instead of sissy men and green beasts, we get tough vikings and hellish armies! ■ 02/05/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard Avec Viking : Battle for Asgard, Sega nous propose de nous plonger dans la mythologie nordique, nous faisant ainsi participer à une lutte sans merci dont le but pour les Hommes est de récupérer leur Royaume, Midgard. Ce dernier est en effet attaqué par les forces de la Légion, une armée de créatures démoniaques répondant aux ordres de Hel, la déesse des Enfers dont on dit qu'elle a pour seuil la Perfidie, pour lit la Maladie, pour écuelle la Disette et pour couteau la faim. Voilà qui promet, son nom est d'ailleurs à l'origine du mot "hell", qui signifie "enfer" en langue anglaise. Fort heureusement, les Hommes peuvent également compter sur Freya (ou Freyja), considérée comme la plus juste des déesses, qui va leur apporter son aide afin de combattre Hel et son armée maudite.....

■ 02/05/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard Omniprésent dans l'actualité juste avant sa sortie, le dernier-né de Sega et Creative Assembly s'annonce particulièrement alléchant. On promet à Viking : Battle for Asgard l'action sanglante d'un God of War dans des batailles rangées à la Dynasty Warriors profitant du savoir faire stratégique des créateurs de Total War, une petite touche RPG en plus. En pleine course vers la gloire dans les vastes vallées nordiques, Skarin trouve le moyen de trébucher à mi-chemin. Explication......

■ 29/04/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard I’ve long found something appealing about Viking history and myth. Vikings were a special breed of warrior pirates. They lived out a rough and rugged existence, but they celebrated life and viciously sought personal glory. There was something brutal, even disgusting, about their displays of strength and courage.
■ 19/04/08 - Viking : Battle for Asgard For me it always seems that Vikings have been overlooked when it comes to gaming. I know there have been plenty of games featuring Vikings but the number of titles focused primarily on Vikings exclusively just seems small. Well now we get an action game that centers upon Norse mythology and all the bloody, brutal legends to go along with it.

Laissé pour mort suite à une bataille sanglante, le viking Skarin est sauvé par Freya, la fille d'Odin. Ni une ni deux, la déesse de l'amour et de la beauté fait de notre héros son champion, lui refile un pendentif magique avec lampe de poche et mini-carte incorporées, et lui demande de libérer le pays de Thorgal qui subit les assauts répétés des protégés de Hel, la déesse des enfers....Test de Viking : Battle for Asgard sur Xbox 360, chez Xbox Gazette.

Quite a lot of the time when reviewing games you don’t have to incentive, patience or time to explore the landscape for a few hours like some will happily do to make the most of their latest game purchase.

That spirit comes across smashingly in Viking: Battle for Asgard, an unapologetic button-mashing action game that delivers a good dose of frenzied violence. Unfortunately, the repetitive combat and shallow gameplay keeps it from attaining combat perfection.
