Whilst the FIFA series is highly anticipated this year as we are promised yet another AI overhaul as it strives to compete with Konami’s hugely successful and popular Pro Evolution Soccer series - or Winning Eleven if you know your stuff – some of the other titles with the inclusion of NASCAR 2008 do not boast such improvements.

The game takes a different approach to its career mode, called The Chase, which seems more like a step backward than real progress for the game’s appeal. Throw in a questionable default steering mechanic and it’s really hard to figure out who the developers really intended to appeal to with their latest game.

■ 21/11/07 - NASCAR 08 Picture the scene if you will: Panning down from above, you spot a line of cars racing inexorably around a large circular track, like worker ants scurrying about their daily business. All seem to follow the pattern without so much as a slip up.
■ 08/11/07 - NASCAR 08 We are sure that a bunch of our readers are probably curious as to why we are reviewing NASCAR 08, or why the title is even available in this country, given the limited fanbase for American motorsport within Australia, and its rather limited appeal. I advise that you stop busting my balls and just read, dammit. Because you know, NASCAR 08 is totally relevant to our coverage – if it is on shelves in any PAL territory on a system we cover, it is fair game.
■ 02/10/07 - Nascar 08 I’m one of those people that have never really considered NASCAR a sport. I don’t think that driving a car around a track for hundreds of miles should qualify as a sport. I can’t say that I have ever watched an entire race. Now I know for every doubter out there like me there is a die-hard race fan that can name a thousand reasons why NASCAR is a sport, so I’m not even going to go into the details of my reasoning.
